Day One

Its our day one of summer vacation. Exciting as it may seem, yet, in reality, its about picking up those forgotten tasks that seemed to matter a lot here.

First Stop- County Appraisal District. Our house property tax has been blotted to an unproportionate amount disregarding the fact that most houses in Houston today depreciate. Thankfully, the appraiser gave me a reasonable adjustment. Next move, convince the bank to apply the adjusted rate before July.

2nd Stop- Brazos Bend State Park. Just 15 minutes from us is this sprawling American Alligator Habitat. But because of its proximity to home, it is often ignored. But today, we the 3 of us, Mom was sleeping, bonded together looking for the great American Alligator. Unfortunately, Zach was so afraid of the squirrel and crow who wanted to share with our lunch. (They dont' have the nerve to be shy).

3rd Stop - Archdiocese Chancery. Summer School is here. Unable to escape from academic demands even during summer, I enrolled myself to a one day class at the Chancery.  It is good to refresh one's memory...and meet new faces.

4th Stop - Walmart, bought some grocery and soil for my gardening stuff. The tragedy was, I was swarmed with feisty mosquitoes when I was transplanting the pechay. Got to finish it tomorrow.

5th Stop- Recycling Center. With a big garbage bag full of no. 2 plastics, we headed to Stella Roberts Recyling Center at Pearland. We just beat the time. The center was about to close when we get there. But it was a relief to dispose those plastics properly.

Last Stop - Church's Chicken. Feeling the pain of hunger and the wrath of my wife, Coco and I decided to be smart by picking our dinner from Church's Chicken. It's been a while since my last feast, it was about time to refresh my palate with the msg-laden chicken loved by unhealthy conscious people.

It was a very productive day for me and for the two kids. We have done so many things and most importantly we were able to lower our property tax. If you are not really going to fight for your right here, they will get most of your hard earned money. The best thing about living here is government listens and works for your advantage. You don't have to get a lawyer to fight for your right. Red tape is illiminated and results are fast.

GET READY FOR DAY TWO!

ADDICTED TO BAKE

Couch is not the place for an older person like me to watch tv. It only takes a matter of minutes before I sleep. That was what happened to...
