UNCOMFORTABLE COMFORTABLENESS

Two days before Christmas break. The most awaited day, but, I seem not to feel that way. Looking back the past 5 months or so, I don't feel much contentment about the accomplishment in work and professional life. I feel that I am just drifting away, just making the day pass. I am looking for something that would change the course a little bit.
I have been trying to get into a grad school for the past 2 years. My enthusiasm would die down after a couple of tries. The last time I have attempted of getting a new direction was last June. It was good. I did good. But later on, I just hit dead end.

I know what I want in life. But the fire is not there anymore. Does it come with age? Or I was just dumb lazy. Or was I very comfortable to my life situation that I don't want to rock the boat.

I remembered one time while I was attending, my first time, to attend the Convocation of the CM in Angono. Most of the time, I sat on a particular spot, never traded it with another one. Then, one night, Fr. Oabel came to me, saying, " You really does not want change. You are afraid of going other direction." I vehemently argued with him that he was reading me incorrectly. And, that was just still part of his CPE thought-paradigm.

Perhaps that was true. Especially when I am very comfortable in my life. Right now, it is happening again. I know the opportunity here is great. That I could be what I want to be. I just don't have the fire, yet.

Hopefully it will change this summer.

On the other hand, I would not trade the books and research papers from Zach's and Coco's annoying embrace and banter. No amount of thesis or dissertation can compare their incomprehensible silliness and stubbornness.

Perhaps, right now, I am just very comfortable being a father. And I hope it does not change.

Break in Thanksgiving

First Day - I woke up this morning finding my computer being infected with a virus. I spent most of my morning fixing it. It was a laborious and crazy first day of our Thanksgiving break.  I was supposed to enjoy the comfort of my bed and the silence of the morning, yet that virus spoiled and ruin my day. Thanks to modern day sharing and forum, I was able to fix it (accidentally).

At the last minute of the day, I was able to run to the recycling center, Manvel and Sienna Lilbrary and returned the books long overdue.

Coco and Zach were amazing. They showed me how persistence and discipline build a character. I hope they don't change their passion for piano.

Mom is working tonight and for the next two nights.

Thanks for Giving

Generrosity breeds blessings. Blessings becomes gifts. Gifts are meant to be shared.

Yearly, we celebrate Thanksgiving over food, stories, laughters, and prayers. We remember the previous year of glorious blessings.  We ermember the people who mattered to us. At the end of every meal comes the hope for a better year to come.

Thanking is always connected to giving. It is an spiral interconnectivity. It defeates its meaning if the action of saying thanks stops in you. "Thank you" meant to be shared...so as other can say "thank you" too.

In my end, I am saying thanks by being generous with my time to my kids and wife. I am going to say thank by saying kind words.

For those who made my life better this year, Thank you for giving.

Lucky Lazy

Its been slow today. I got some free time to tidy up some loose things. As usual, before you know it, time's up already. But at least I was able to work on some.

I am good at managing my time the past two days. I was perfectly 15 minutes after 5, just on time for our dinner. Mom works tonight, but will be here tomorrow. Perhaps we can watch My Name is Khan..and snuggle.

Coco does not complain if squezzed, hug and cuddled. He too is very good too in music. Our goal for him is to learn how to read properly. We can feel he knows some, but he is trying to keep us nervous, by pretending he does not know.

Zach, as usual, proved to be smarter than us. We are glad that his interest in music is simply amazing. He can read notes, sing while reading notes, and really sing it well.

Tomorrow is another day and I hope we could come home early for Y.

Love Notes

Coco in C minor.

It is fascinating how life humors you. When you were a teenager, you can’t wait for the sun to show up. That is opposite when you’re growing old, you don’t want the sun to show up.

Sometimes you look forward to your coming home, than going out.

Thanks to the mind of they young. It rejuvenates you, releases the tension and stress that life gives you.

For us, it would be Coco and Zach. This time, we’re fascinated by how good they are reading notes. Its more than a pride, but the power of the mind to soothe life’s travails.

Play Date

Zach has gone into a realm that we certainly have not entertained quite early. His friend asked him for a play date. I guess, he is enjoying his life today both in school and out of school. He has come out of his shell and noticeably likeable by his classmates.

He came back to the school, pretty much happy and beaming with contentment. To top it all, he was excitely exhilarating when he told us what happened at his friends house. The downside was, he was quite tired, and the moment his back laid on the car seat, he was dozing. He was on bed unitl 10 pm, just on time for me and Coco to go to bed.

While giving him a bath, he as telling me about he he like being with Pauline and how he had a good time. If there is goodnews for me out of this event, it would be his story about the Wii. Fortunately, he knows now how to play pingpong and bowling in Wii (much advance to all of us at home.

Coco was quite today. He came to my classroom crying over something. Unfortunately, he was upset about an incident in the Extended Day. Thanks to Ms. Jackie for taking care of them.

Love this day, cold, chlly but with no rain.

Mom is working tonight. This Saturday is busy for us, having two birthdays to attend to. The goodnews is, both of them are in League City.

Hallow, Kitty! Sounds Familiar?

That’s where we went to this pm, Hallow Kitty, the huge park 10 minutes from us. It’s been inviting us for quiet sometimes but because of “its just there, we’ll come later” syndrome, we just ignored it.

This time however was different. I needed a place to write but at the same time entertain the kids. Hallow Kitty fits just perfect, plus the 5 dollar pizza from the newly opened Little cezars, everything just fell pefect to fit my needs.

While Coco and Zach where playing, I was able to make 5 evaluations for my students. While gobbling the pepperoni pizza and downing the A&W Rootbeer, I was able to be in another dimension of life, that is, being serious and concentrating with my objectives.

Had it not for the rowdy boys who was trying to scare my boys, we would have been there until 3:30. Zach and Coco just came looking for my aide when 3 brothers came looking and accusing them of hitting them with the pebbles and gravel. They were in fact not afraid of me because the still managed to come and plead their cause to me, hoping that I would be on their side.

Unfortunately, upon interrogation and finding out that neither any one  of the 5 where telling me the truth, I just told them to just cool of and stop playing.

It was the second time that the two kids where threatened by other kids. I guess, they have to be careful and start protecting themselves.

We suprized Mom this pm with our pecan rum cake and stuffed cabbage courtesy of Sandra Lee.

Ohio is losing when I turned off the TV hoping to spare myself from the angst of disappointment.

Welcome Back Sienna. Thank You, Cristy!

Today, we welcome Sienna back. Its been more than a week since we last saw her. Gone are the nightmare of scratch and bump. What we have now is the old Sienna with a new bumper and lights.

Though we are satisfied with the repair, yet we are saddened by the fact that it was one of us who has to pay the bill.

As for Cristy, we certainly will miss her. She was very easy to drive, very accessible and painless to ride. It is hard to part ways with her, but ours was temporary. She served as she was asked to.

Mom was working today, after she was stuck in the elevator for 20 minutes last night.

Tomorrow, although, no school day, we have to be in Charismatic Center for the annual teacher symposium.

To be or to beat

I know my mind wants to exercise. But my body wants to go to bed. There is no question who wins. The spirit is willing but the flesh is very weak.

I am looking forward to going to the Y every afternoon. But right after dinner, my butt simply wouldn’t budge. I know I have a lot of reviving to do. It’s not fun to take those medicines but its not also easy to run in the thread mill.

Perhaps tomorrow, I can handle the pressure to be back on track.

Sienna is done already. Its been a week since she was gone for repair. She’d better be pretty again,.

Coco seemed very talkative today. And we like it.

Mom works but she got us yummy dinner.

Revisiting

Its been more than 3 months since my last entry. And I guess, this is déjà vu again. I was in this situation sometime last year. When nothing would come out from my mind and spirit to chronicle the day.

I will try again.

The school is not bad today. My schedule grants me to have some pleasure of slowing down some things. But to compensate my long breaks, I have introduced the Chess club after school. Unknown to me, there were kids from elementary who were willing to learn Chess. It was a delight but at the same time a big responsibility. But it was to learn that they want to move the pieces of chess,

Part of my resolution is to shape up. My diabetes is eating me up, taking my life and burying me in the sand of misery. I can’t do that to my kids, hence the Y.

This p.m, no matter how my body wants to rest, my spirit triumphantly pushed me to get into the car and drive for the Y.

It was exhilarating to lift some weights and see yourself in the company of some health buffs. I hope I could be consistent on that.

Tonight, Coco was being bad. He hit Zach in the stomach twice.  He was in time out for more than 30 minutes and is not allowed to watch TV nor play in the computer.

See you next time.

How Much Longer?

… was the question raised by Coco once in a while after we have crossed the Tennessee state line heading to Virginia.

2010 Sesame Place 001We left Alabama at around 9:15, after a hearty breakfast. The travel last night (read:yesterday) was quite muscle-cramping. Because of the distance we have to limit our stopping to 10 minutes (except on our lunch).

2010 Sesame Place 020The  longest trip was crossing the state of Virginia. It took us forever to get to Baltimore. Glancing at the map once in a while did not excite but tortured us.

2010 Sesame Place 033 Interstate 81 has totally impressed on us its brutality. To counter drowsiness and boredom, we have to take turn driving.

2010 Sesame Place 026We crossed Baltimore-Washington at around 11 pm ET. From a quite Interstate trip we were startled how busy the Washington beltway was (with its fast cars and punishing construction areas). I had to be extra alert for our next exit, else we’ll end up in Florida, or back to Texas.

2010 Sesame Place 040True to my impression I-95 (Philly-NY), devoid of its fast cars and semis, is very challenging. On the good note, we enjoyed the beauty of Philadelphia at night.

After the grueling 13 hour trip, and uncharacteristic yet worrisome “recalculation” sound from Gerri  (or was it 14?) we finally reached Ramada Inn at 1 am (ET).

Grabbing just the bear essentials for a goodnight sleep, we crashed and dozed.

Welcome to Philly! I’m craving for the famous Philly cheesesteake.

2010 ROAD TRIP

It’s our first time to embark on a long journey from home. Although there were attempts before to go on state hopping, yet, because of unrealistic assumptions we never pursued it.
True to our yearly tradition of celebrating Mom’s birthday away from home, although there was a strong hesitation to visit The Sesame Place, we finally conceded to ask Sienna to accompany us.
2010 Road Trip 1st Leg-Alabama 0066:30 – Departure from Gardenspring Ct. But with all the commotions last night, we forgot the printed copy of our hotel-destination in Alabama.
2010 Road Trip 1st Leg-Alabama 0088:30 – First stop in Louisiana…and proved to be the last one until we saw the next rest area 5 hours after we the one in Louisiana.
2010 Road Trip 1st Leg-Alabama 0336:00 – Second rest area…in Alabama. We feasted with Mom’s adobo and liempo. Not bad.
2010 Road Trip 1st Leg-Alabama 041Thanks to modern technologies of GPS and portable DVD, the first leg is just perfect. I was kidding Jaz that because of our 13 hour trip from Texas to Gadsden, Alabama, I can now claim to be a true driver capable of negotiating the Bitukang Manok” going to Bicol.
2010 Road Trip 1st Leg-Alabama 0558:30 – We reached our hotel, Comfort Suites, in Gadsden, Alabama; feasted with our adobo and liempo; desert is mango.
The hotel is not true to its name. Its not comforting to see trash in the elevator, stinky and uncleaned microwave.
Nevertheless, after a safe trip, that is the least of your worries.
Am now ready for bed, and beyond.

Tune Up

I had my annual physical check up this morning. As all physically check ups, its not pleasant. Thanks to my very caring doctor, she made it very easy and fast. She was very encouraging and really commended me for an excellent job of controlling my diabetes and high blood pressure. But of course, I have to consistently be on top of shape.
Enrolling at the Y is one of the best moves I have so far. Because of the amount one spent for fees, you tend to force to yourself to get your money back. Our trainer, Amber has been very helpful and patient.
Today also Zach and Coco started their summer camp. From 9-12:30, they get to do several and amazing stuff at the Y. With all those free hours, I can catch up with a lot of things in the house like painting, reading, a little time in the garden and planning for the next school year.
Mom is on the last leg of her very strenuous schedule this week. She’ll be on a 3-week vacation starting this Thursday. She deserves the best vacation for she really works very hard this year.

Puppet Show

Accidentally discovered before bedtime, we gave puppet show a try. Using “Rocky and Scotty”, I started mimicking famous voices. The two, Zach and Coco just gone bersherk laughing.
We tried the story of “Going Camping”, a prelude to their life for the next 5 day at the Y. While Mom served as the Lighting Director, I ran the story based from the unknown. It was a click. The boys simply loved it.
Indeed, fun things comes in unexpected circumstances. We have no idea how Rocky and Scotty would be so fun and economical.
Summary of the Day:
1. Mass at St. Laurence
2. PNB for Mama’s Birthday.
3. King’s Lunch at Kings Way Buffet. this is so far the best Chinese buffet restaurant in the area (unless you have one). Food is huge, though the taste is  average.
4. Zach and Coco were enrolled at the Y.
5. Painted the Guest Room (colors are unconvincing)
6. Puppet Show.

Steamy Saturday

Mom was still working tonight, her second. She was anticipating for a long vacation that is why she was working so hard.
Coco has still cold and allergy, but he is doing fine. One thing that is quite admirable of Coco was his willingness to help me whenever I would do yard work in the afternoon. If not for the feisty mosquitoes outside, I could allow him to join me for “outside work.”
Zach has become very responsible. He knows now how to fix his toys after using. I love his being so inquisitive also. Unlike Mom, I am not missing a bit of their growing up.
One thing that I am fond of them is whenever they would like to show something funny on TV or movies, they would physically focus your attention by holding your face facing forward to where they would like you to see.
Both of them are funny too and can appreciate humor. They will grow as persons who appreciates life and the fund of it.
We have attended the bday party of Stan and Lalyn. Giovan, Deacon Dale (who blessed the house) were there too. Kris as usual was not present.
Mowed the  lawn tonight, put some insecticides, and was trying to trim the edges when the trimmer broke. Got to buy new string tomorrow.
Am planning to plant a lot of trees this year. My mangoes are sprouting up, so as the pecan. I have a berry that needs to be planted.

What Took You So Long?

2010 4th July Breather 276That was Coco’s question when  he saw me. (I was away for a luncheon meeting with Fr. Ed, Deacon Dale and Giovan in downtown Houston).

This is the reason why it is always hard for me to leave without the kids. Coco at this time has a habit of reminding me that I should not be away for long. He is such a sweet yet sometimes feisty boy who sometimes from out of nowhere will blurt out, either a song or a comment that will make you think and smile.

5th of July

We woke up early trying to catch up the early traffic going to Sea World (and trying to get out of the horrid Holiday Inn Hotel.

Coco and Zach were very excited to pack their things of the day but were not keen on bringing them.

2010 4th July Breather 025After the free breakfast courtesy of the lameness of the hotel service and staff (we even saw dead cockroach on the floor of the restaurant), we drove to Sea World. its past 11 when we disembarked and was on our trail at 11:30. With the kids on stroller and map on our hands we chose Cannery Crow Caper as our first show.

2010 4th July Breather 208With much creativity and change of the script, we were surprised with the new twist of the story and play. The fun part was when the Walrus reminded us how to get rid of our unwanted fats.

Next stop was the Pirates 4D. It was a usual plot of the pirate captain getting rid of his crew just to take all the lot for himself. But with Neilsen at the helm, it was a pirate story with a twist of cunningness and laughter. The effect though of the 4D was quite impressive. Except for the howling and screaming of little kids who’s uncool parents brought them there, the show was great.

Tired and sweaty, we rested in the cove near the alligator’s alley where we met a Filipino family who is from Houston

2010 4th July Breather 114After a 30 minute waiting Shamu Show was finally started. We chose a seat from from the splash zone. Even if this is Zach’s and Coco’s 3rd time to be here, it seemed it was their first. There are  always new surprises. This time, a new baby whale was added to their family. It is amazing how she follows her mom.

2010 4th July Breather 194One of the shows that lighten our day was the Codfish Tonite. It spoofed all the shows of Sea World San Antonio. The actors were simply hilarious. The animals, wow, they are smart and adorable.

We called it a day at 8:30 pm. Feeling sweaty and hungry, we looked for a restaurant before heading to our hotel. Finding it hard to decide from a bunch of restaurants in the strip, we settled for mojito and margarita from TGIF.

2010 4th July Breather 273At 11:30 we crashed on our own side of bed in a hotel who respects their client.

(SET) FORTH OF JULY

We left the house at 8 am (we planned to live at 7) and was on the road at 9.  The weather is perfect. After hurricane Alex comes a gorgeous weather fit for strolling. With a few glitch and misrouted trail (again) we arrived at San Marcos at around 11 am. While we are having lunch over spaghetti and Dibbs, Mom started shopping.

Understandably, both shopping complex (Prime Outlet and Tanger) were swarmed with people “celebrating July 4th” when the clock hit 12 noon.

One is really overwhelmed with the enormous number of stores sprawled in more than 10 acres. Shoppers from as far as Mexico come in droves.  Thanks for the heat of Texas, it slows you down from going store to store.

At around 6, we left San Marcos. The gas was so high at 2.65 a gallon. But we have no option.

We were quiet excited to rest our tired bodies that we jumped out of Sienna right after we parked. Hoping (as logical as it should be) for a coozier room we lined up to check in. Once we got our key, we excitedly hopped in the elevator for room 415. Right after the green light on I pushed the door and was quite dismayed that the room was smaller than what we have in Holiday Express, right across the street. There was no “sala” and there was only 1 TV compared to 2 in the previous hotel.  The worse was, there was still an occupant in the said room. We hurriedly went out and closed the door praying that no one saw us coming out.

We stormed down the conceirged hoping for a reasonalbe explaination…and an upgrade. Feeling apologetic, Hector gave us another room, this time at the second floor. Hopeing that this time they got it right, we opened the door. “Viola”, what comes in front of our amazement was the sight of the aircondition cover set on the bed.

This time, Jaz grabbed the key and was fuming mad. Without waiting for her turn, he confronted Hector, demanded to see the manager and asked Hector to go and check the room for us before the key is turned over to us.

Third is a charm could be true because this time, except for a few glitches with the key, we were able to open and get it. The room was relatively clean, smaller but complete with the needed necessities for a good night sleep.

Slowly, we settled down, brought up our stuffs and finish our dinner. We quire quite please with the room, yet you can’ t help but compare.

Just as after we were done with our dinner, we found out that the room has no refrigerator.

A nice way of celebrating 4th of July.

ART and Class

This week is quite busy for us. Mom, after some few trips and slips to the buffet tables and grills pulled herself again and decided to enroll on Zumba. By the looks at it, she enjoyed the trial (so are we looking at the regular Monday sessions?)
2010 YMCA SUMMER CLASS 0082010 YMCA SUMMER CLASS 004  Zach on the other hand had his first class in art. He did great, considering the fact that its his first try to be in a regular class.
2010 YMCA SUMMER CLASS 001 2010 YMCA SUMMER CLASS 002 Coco, not to be outdone and to stop his very competitive mantra of “what about me?”, started painting his new bird’s house.
As for me, I am consistent with my workout, got back to cardio and weights (but had three cups of rice over purefoods corned beef, not bad).
2010 YMCA SUMMER CLASS 014 2010 YMCA SUMMER CLASS 012 Yesterday, the two kids started petting again. We bought them Dorsey and Dorothy.
This summer is getting better, even if the fund is low.

Savoring Saturday

Mom is off today. After a couple of hours of resting we decided to go to Kemah for a walk and to buy some fresh fish.

2010 June Kemah 032 2010 June Kemah 037 2010 June Kemah 036

It’s been hot the whole day and the site of the Cool Zone freshens you up. The kids enjoyed the parading boats, dancing fountain, cool breeze, the newly renovated playground, and of course the train ride.

For unknown reason, we know what happens during fireworks, yet, we continue to watch it. Perhaps its unpredictability why we continue to squeeze ourselves through those sweaty bodies.

Not eating before coming to Kemah is one thing that you should not do. That is what happened to us. We ended up grabbing some food from  Wendys’. (baked potato and beans).

As usual Coco and Zach dived directly to their beds once we got home.

I stayed until 1 pm for the Lethal Weapon 4 and ended up sleeping downstairs. Woke up at 9 this am.

The Y Culture

ymca

Call it forcible exercise, but if that is what it takes to lower my sugar and control my blood pressure, I have not complaints. However, I call it responsible parenthood. Unlike other past summers, this year seemed to lean towards Zach and Coco’s welfare. Unmistakably, the two kids are growing up, and they need to get other skills aside from web surfing and tv scanning. The best part is, I get to prove to myself that I needed this also.

So, the 4 of us, are the newest family to try to be cool with the Y culture.

This morning, for the first time, I was able to log in 300 calories and 2.75 miles. Not bad, considering the fact that my muscles are still in pain from the previous work out.

Unlike workingout at home, at the Y, there were a lot of things that could encourage you to workout. I’m talking about the elderly who show no sign of giving up. There was even this couple in their 80s, whose wife is a great inspiration.

I know, but don’t jinx it, ok?

Helpmates at Eight

2010 June 8th Anniv-San Antonio 167

Looking back eight years ago, I haven’t imagine celebrating our wedding anniversary far from Manila. There was no plans of going somewhere else. My heart and mind were set in the land I love…the Philippines.

But here we are, blessed with the opportunity to see other cultures, and more blessed to see happy faces of blessed people with our two kids, Zach and Coco.

Frankly, we didn’t imagine that, nor put all those things in blue print to be carefully executed.

2010 June 8th Anniv-San Antonio 233

Marriage and family are two different strokes of life. Perfect balancing is not the key, but the grace and blessings from God to keep the two in perfect sync.

One thing I have learned for a couple of years as a husband and a father is that you don’t have to take your role seriously. keep it light but store the light moments and fun part deep in your memory. Retrieve it whenever necessary.

What about the romance? Don’t ever forget new style. Not the one that you are thinking, though. But lately, I was poor in this department.

Eight is great. Without pre-empting next year’s celebration, I wonder where we would be? Somewhere cheap but lovely.

Happy Anniversary, Ga!

Day One

Its our day one of summer vacation. Exciting as it may seem, yet, in reality, its about picking up those forgotten tasks that seemed to matter a lot here.

First Stop- County Appraisal District. Our house property tax has been blotted to an unproportionate amount disregarding the fact that most houses in Houston today depreciate. Thankfully, the appraiser gave me a reasonable adjustment. Next move, convince the bank to apply the adjusted rate before July.

2nd Stop- Brazos Bend State Park. Just 15 minutes from us is this sprawling American Alligator Habitat. But because of its proximity to home, it is often ignored. But today, we the 3 of us, Mom was sleeping, bonded together looking for the great American Alligator. Unfortunately, Zach was so afraid of the squirrel and crow who wanted to share with our lunch. (They dont' have the nerve to be shy).

3rd Stop - Archdiocese Chancery. Summer School is here. Unable to escape from academic demands even during summer, I enrolled myself to a one day class at the Chancery.  It is good to refresh one's memory...and meet new faces.

4th Stop - Walmart, bought some grocery and soil for my gardening stuff. The tragedy was, I was swarmed with feisty mosquitoes when I was transplanting the pechay. Got to finish it tomorrow.

5th Stop- Recycling Center. With a big garbage bag full of no. 2 plastics, we headed to Stella Roberts Recyling Center at Pearland. We just beat the time. The center was about to close when we get there. But it was a relief to dispose those plastics properly.

Last Stop - Church's Chicken. Feeling the pain of hunger and the wrath of my wife, Coco and I decided to be smart by picking our dinner from Church's Chicken. It's been a while since my last feast, it was about time to refresh my palate with the msg-laden chicken loved by unhealthy conscious people.

It was a very productive day for me and for the two kids. We have done so many things and most importantly we were able to lower our property tax. If you are not really going to fight for your right here, they will get most of your hard earned money. The best thing about living here is government listens and works for your advantage. You don't have to get a lawyer to fight for your right. Red tape is illiminated and results are fast.

GET READY FOR DAY TWO!

YIELD...AND SLOW

While heading home, I missed the first street where we should turn but found out an easy access 5 meters after the first corner and turn hard but unable to see the yield sign. I haven't noticed it until Zach yelled at me, saying, Daddy...that's a yield sign. Learning of what happened Coco reaffirmed what his Kuya have seen by saying, "Daddy, slow down."

I hope they'll be better driver than me.

The Spring Program is a success. Kids are amazing, love them.

Thanks, Lord.

Brown and White

While at the restroom this morning, I was with Coco waiting for Zach to finish his morning routine when I started comparing Coco with my facial feature. Holding him close to me, I started enumerating how we look a like, eyelids, facial contour, nose and smile. When I mentioned the similarities of our complexion, saying, "Coco, we have the same color."

Out of unknown he blurted out, "No Daddy, we're not the same, I am white you are brown."

I know what the means was our color complexion, he can indeed tell the difference. His skin is lighter than mine.

But never have I known how he can diffirentiate things...better

Mom is working tonight. Readying for the Spring break program.

STREP YES, STREP NO!

Its hard to work after Spring Break, especially if there is another break coming in 8 days. Thanks I was able to survive. Following the lesson plan is a hard act. Good that the providence of God never failed me. Inspiration is 99%,hard work is 1%. That is what you call blessings.

Speaking of blessing, we had a good time at Bolivar Island during Spring Break. It was one of the best experiences we had so far. If not for the "jump start" incident, I could have enjoyed it more. From the moment I found out the complaint against my policy, I hoped that our stay would be cut short.

Coco and Zach enjoyed the beach. The love playing in the sand and collecting shells. They will for sure enjoy the beach in the Philippines comes vacation time.

It is unfortunate that Coco has been seek with Strep throat. This is his 3rd day. It was ironic because we thought it was Zach who has Strep. because he was the one complaining of sore throat. We even brought him the doctor, but it turn out Coco was the one sick.

This is a good weekend, except for the flat tire of Mommy and Coco. Good that they were almost here when the incident happened.

Goodnite.

SPRING BREAK UP

A day before spring break seems to be an exciting event. And I really needed one. There were a lot of plans, but I know only a couple of them will be realized. Budget and the comfort of being lazy are the projected reason. But we have one big thing coming next Thursday. And it makes me more excited. Communing with nature is one of my weakness. I have no problem counting the sand of the sea nor witnessing the seeming endless of doing nothing.

We had a hectic day today. From the very start, out sched was full. Thanks to my class, they were very compliant when I asked them to get ready for our next project after the spring break. The most awesome thing that happened today was our puzzle completion. With an incentive of paying their movie tickets, Megan, Sophia and Madelyn untiringly built the puzzle in 2 days. I could have done it in a week.

Tomorrow is Movie Time, we will be waching Alice in Wonderland (Johnny Depp), in 3D.

Mom is working tonight. Coco and Zach as usual were fighting but enjoyed their bath. We need to buy more bubble bath soap.

Have a good night.,

Hit and Run

It was our first time to confront this most feared known fear, the what if of sending your son to the school where you are teaching.

The first semester seems so okey for the three of us. Coco has a  lot of fun, not because of his being my son but because of his being the youngest in the school. We thought, he loves the accolades of the students. However, we noticed that slowly he was beginning to dislike it. And his reaciton was not pleasant.

This week, her Mom was furious when he saw the mark on his card, "unhappy face". When she asked her, she was told that she hit his classmate Elena.

What do you expect but lectures and time outs and grounded rules. It was an awful day for him and us.

But we are learning. And I guess he was learning more.

After a barage of sorry and contrition, we let that day go and hoped for a better weekend.

I hope it is not just a hit and run for all of us, but we are hoping for a bulls eye.

Fastidious Friday

Its raining cats and dog outside. The weather channel expects a soggy Saturday. That would be nice for all of us, its our weekend with less work except to clean the house.

Zach and Coco have no school today. And its my first time this year to come to school early. Previous days were not so ideal. If not 8, it is always 10 min. before time.

Mom is working tonight.

ADDICTED TO BAKE

Couch is not the place for an older person like me to watch tv. It only takes a matter of minutes before I sleep. That was what happened to...
